The newly developed cross-platform Hg2 app from Panacoda offers travelers a range of innovative features and city information.

Stuttgart, January 23, 2013 – A universal HTML5 app for smart travel with a hedonist twist: Panacoda has developed the cross-platform app, „Hg2 – A Hedonist’s guide to…“, for the international travel guide publisher. The mobile travel guide for smartphones and tablets was designed using the pioneering open source technology „The-M-Project“. It works on the principle of „buy once, use on all devices“. The app provides information on the world“s top city destinations and convinces users with intelligent features and an attractive design. The new 2.0 version has been available for download in the Apple App Store since December 2012. Android users can use the app as of February 2013, whilst Windows 8 Phone and BlackBerry users will gain access during the year“s second quarter.

Dominik Laubach, Panacoda CTO, explains: „We are delighted to win Hg2 with such a demanding target group. Clients of this caliber allow us to showcase our expertise in implementing innovative and intelligent features. The HTML5 foundations of our apps ensure that tablet and smartphone users of all operating systems are equally addressed.“ Tremayne Carew Pole, founder and publisher of Hg2 adds, „Panacoda provides innovative technology and promotes the cross-platform usage behavior of our target audience“.

Save costs and many add-ons

Users have access to information to more than 50 cities and winter sports destinations around the world – including New York, London, Istanbul and Zermatt. The cities are offered individually or in a complete package. The first option is particularly interesting for those who only want to buy the mobile guide for individual cities.

With built-in shopping options for iOS (in-app purchase) and single-city apps for Android, users are able to individually select their favorite cities. The destination selection can be made either with an informative list or with an appealing image-based search. The feature „inspired search“ can search for hotels, restaurants and locations of varying styles and tastes. The Hg2 app also features the most up-to-date content on hotels, attractions, cafes and bars. Other useful add-ons include a map of all locations, integrated emergency numbers for each city, a currency converter, social media integration (Facebook and Twitter) as well as a travel diary. Panacoda and Hg2 already work on more features.

The new Hg2 app is available for download in the Apple App Store:
