Salzburg“s Technology Leader Equips the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro
The Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro is one of the largest, most well-known stadiums in the world and the venue for the World Cup final in 2014. SKIDATA, a worldwide leader in access management, is supplying the Maracanã Stadium with the most modern access technology. Located in the Brazilian metropolis of Rio de Janeiro, this sports and concert venue is the location of the upcoming soccer world championship and the Olympic summer games. In addition to the stadium, the Salzburg technology company SKIDATA has provided access technology for cable cars on Rio“s iconic Sugarloaf Mountain. „We are very excited to equip two major projects in Brazil with our products and expertise. The Maracanã Stadium Relies on SKIDATA“s Expertise
Opened in 1950, the municipal Maracanã Stadium is currently being renovated and modernized for the upcoming 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympic Games. The cost of this work will add up to approximately 320 million Euros. The stadium will be the venue for various matches and also the final during the 2014 World Cup.
As in the past, SKIDATA will be part of the upcoming soccer events and will be on-location to ensure trouble-free access for thousands of soccer fans. Since the 2004 UEFA European Championship in Portugal and the 2006 World Cup in Germany, at least 50% of venues for these events have relied on SKIDATA access systems. In addition to the World Cup, the Maracanã Stadium will also be the central Olympic stadium for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games and the 2016 Paralympic Games.
