80 new functions in hectecs digital OP planning solution mediCAD Version 3

(Landshut) In early April hectec GmbH began shipping version 3 of its mediCAD Classic digital planning program. The new version contains more than 80 expansions, with the primary focus on making daily OP work faster and more reliable. Examples include the new bilateral deformity correction according to Dror Paley and automated corrective osteotomies near the hip joint.

Surgeons who reference the anatomy of the uncut leg when planning leg operations will especially appreciate the new bilateral deformity correction. This feature displays both legs simultaneously and allows for planning that considers the characteristics of the other leg. The new Intertrochanteric Osteotomy module facilitates precise planning of operative relocations of the femoral head into the joint socket on a patient with hip joint dysplasia. This includes femoral osteotomy with adaptation of plates and locking screws. New dimensioning capabilities like femoral and acetabular offset increase the overall precision of planning for hip endoprosthetic procedures.

Version 3 of mediCAD Classic forwards all planning data directly to EndoDok. The new version can even integrate mobile devices, giving doctors immediate access to planning data from virtually anywhere. mediCAD then sends any changes made through the mobile device directly to the PACS system, ensuring that even these changes are stored without risk of revisions.

Version 3.0 also includes new DICOM functions. Overlays can assist in planning by supplementing radiographs with additional information like scales or markers for labeling a side of the body. mediCAD plans can be converted to DICOM format with a simple mouse click and then transferred into the PACS. As a result, it is no longer necessary to open and save each plan individually in order to store larger volumes of data in the image format.

According to Jörn Seel, Managing Director of hectec GmbH, „Version 3 of mediCAD“ integrates more than 80 new features and requests from people who use the software on a daily basis. Automatic detection of the calibration sphere is one example and relieves the surgeon of the need to scale the image. Bilateral deformity correction and Intertrochanteric Osteotomy are additional highlights. Bildquelle:kein externes Copyright
