In action around the world: a 365-day ski season for SKIDATA Service Management

It“s always winter somewhere: while anticipation for the 2014-2015 ski season is growing in Europe, ski regions in South America and Australia are already closing up for the season. Around the world, ski resorts implement access solutions from SKIDATA and use hardware and software made in Grödig near Salzburg for their access management. For this reason, our support technicians assist ski regions all over the world all year round and in Austria they even have ski season at the height of summer.
„Fifteen years ago a lot less was happening in summer. However, thanks to the increasingly international direction of the company, that has changed,“ reports SKIDATA employee Markus.

Second Level Support: a Small Team with Big Responsibility

The IT specialists in second level support are responsible for many activities at SKIDATA: in addition to conducting field tests, they provide the newest versions of software and brief employees in the respective ski regions. Since highly qualified field technicians ensure routine operation and install new versions of software on location, the second level support team can concentrate on areas which require special development expertise. A small group of support specialists, therefore, is in the position to take care of all ski systems around the world.

Gerald has been with SKIDATA since 1986 and has worked in support since 1996. He says about his tasks at SKIDATA: „In the past we also had the most innovative products on the market, but they were of course limited to the status of the technology back then. We constantly integrate the newest developments in electronics and information and network technology into our systems. And our customers profit from this, too: all updates and changes of all configurations are installed by us remotely – a huge convenience for our clients. Over the course of time, my responsibilities have become more complex but also more exciting.“
